Career

Matheus Cunha began his professional journey at Coritiba in Brazil before transferring to Swiss club Sion when he was just 18 years old in 2017. During his time with Sion, he showcased his skills by scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists in 32 games. 

This outstanding performance caught the attention of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, leading to his move to the German team in 2018. Furthermore, he achieved great success with the Brazil U23 team by winning the Toulon Tournament in 2019, where he emerged as the top scorer.

Matheus Cunha played a key role in Brazil U23’s qualification for the 2020 Olympics by securing a runner-up position in the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. In January 2020, he joined Hertha BSC on loan and signed for Atlético Madrid in August 2021.
