Biography

To start playing, you should look at online casino reviews to choose the best one; there is almost the same as a site’s review as a player’s biography. To know about quality players, you should take a look at one of the most memorable players in NBA history, specifically in the 2000s. That player is Carmelo Anthony, who is best known for his time with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. Nicknamed “Melo,” he was one of the best shooters of his time and played from 2003-2022.

Early Life

Carmelo Kyam Anthony was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 29, 1984, to Carmelo Iriarte and Mary Anthony, who were both Puerto Rican and African-American. When Carmelo Anthony was just two years old, his father passed away from cancer. When he was eight, his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in a high-crime neighborhood.

For the first three years of high school, Carmelo Anthony attended Towson Catholic High School, where he played basketball during his sophomore and junior years. After his junior year, he was named The Baltimore Sun’s metro player of the year in 2001. Despite a successful year on the court, he had a difficult time off the court. He was known to skip class and get the occasional suspension.

Before his senior year, Carmelo was recruited by several D1 colleges and eventually committed to Syracuse. On his mother’s advice, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia to focus on getting above a C grade average to meet Syracuse’s requirements.

He went on to be named the USA Today All-USA First Team. After getting his ACT score above the 18 minimum, Anthony was set for college.

College Basketball Career

In 2002–03 Anthony attended Syracuse University and led the team to its first NCAA championship as a freshman. His most impressive game was the semifinal, where he scored 33 points.

He received the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award and was named the Big East Conference Freshman of the Year. After a successful freshman year, Carmelo left Syracuse and committed to the 2003 NBA Draft.

Pro Basketball Career

Carmelo was drafted as a forward at third overall to the Denver Nuggets in 2003 and played all 82 games in his rookie season. In his rookie year, he averaged 36.5 minutes, 21 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He finished second in rookie of the year voting behind Lebron James.

He averaged 28.9 points per game in his second season and became the second youngest player in NBA history to score 5,000 points. In the following season, 2008-2009, he helped the Nuggets reach the Western Conference Finals but lost to the eventual NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Although he had great personal success, the Nuggets had first-round exits in six of seven attempts. Amid talks of being unable to afford his upcoming payday, the Nuggets traded Anthony to the Knicks in 2011.

In his first two seasons on the New York Knicks, Carmelo continued to get beyond the first round in the playoffs, but in the 2012-13 season, he helped the team earn the second-best record in the Eastern Conference as well as lead the NBA with 28.7 points per game.

The team eventually got knocked out of the second round of the playoffs, making it the last time he would be in the playoffs as a New York Knicks player.

Before the 2017-2018 season, Carmelo was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and averaged a career low at the time of 16.2 PPG. He was then traded to and released by the Atlanta Hawks in the following off-season and signed with the Houston Rockets for the 2018-19 season.

He played just 10 games with the Rockets as his performance was not up to standard, and he was traded to the Chicago Bulls but was released by February 2019. He remained a free agent until the following season, 2019-20, when he was signed by Portland Trail Blazers and played there for two seasons. In the 2021-2022 season, he signed with the Lakers and played just one season there. Not yet retired, he is still considered a free agent as of 2022-2023.
