Like many young Dominican players hoping to reach the professional ranks, he spent time developing his skills on local baseball fields and working to improve his speed, hitting, and fielding.
Clase’s athletic ability became an important part of his development as a young player. His quickness on the bases and ability to hit from both sides of the plate helped distinguish him from other prospects.
He pursued baseball training in the Dominican Republic, where young athletes often work with specialized programs and scouts to prepare for professional opportunities.
Personal Life
Jonatan Clase is unmarried and has not publicly confirmed being in a romantic relationship.
He keeps his personal life away from the spotlight, concentrating on his baseball career and his development as a professional athlete.

Career
Jonatan Clase began his professional baseball journey when he signed with the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent on July 2, 2018. He received a signing bonus of $35,000 and entered the organization’s development system.
During the 2019 season, he played for the Mariners’ Dominican Summer League affiliate, where he began demonstrating the speed and athletic ability that would become defining features of his game.
His development continued through the minor leagues as he gained experience against increasingly competitive opponents. After the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season, he returned to competition and progressed through the Mariners’ farm system.
His performances improved as he developed his hitting power, baserunning instincts, and defensive versatility in the outfield. Clase enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2023 while playing for High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas.
He recorded 20 home runs and 79 stolen bases, demonstrating an unusual combination of power and speed. His performances earned him selection to the All-Star Futures Game, an event that showcases some of the most promising young players in professional baseball. He also received organizational recognition for his contributions during the season.
On April 15, 2024, Clase was promoted to the major leagues by the Seattle Mariners. He made his MLB debut against the Cincinnati Reds, beginning a new chapter in his professional career. Reaching the majors represented a major milestone after years of development in the minor leagues.
His time with Seattle was relatively brief. On July 26, 2024, the Mariners traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for veteran relief pitcher Yimi García.
The move gave Clase an opportunity to continue his development within another major league organization while competing for a place in Toronto’s outfield.
After joining the Blue Jays, Clase moved between the major league roster and the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons as he worked to establish a regular role.
His speed and ability to hit from both sides of the plate provided the organization with an additional offensive option, although competition for playing time remained strong.
During the 2026 season, Clase appeared in nine major league games for Toronto, recording a .273 batting average, two home runs, and six runs batted in according to the supplied statistics.
However, his season was interrupted on August 27, 2026, when he was placed on the 60-day injured list because of left plantar fasciitis. The injury limited his playing opportunities and required attention to his recovery.
Despite these setbacks, Clase’s speed, switch-hitting ability, and previous minor league production remain important parts of his baseball profile.
As he continues his professional career, his progress will depend on his recovery, consistency at the plate, and ability to secure a regular role at the major league level.
