Aboki Naira to Dollar Black Market Exchange Rate Today, 14th August 2026
As of Friday, 14 August 2026, the Nigerian naira is exchanging at ₦1,415 to buy and ₦1,428 to sell against the United States dollar in the parallel market, popularly referred to as the Aboki or black market rate. Currency dealers operating in major centres including Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt are quoting these figures for cash transactions outside the formal banking system.
The rates indicate that a buyer seeking dollars would need to pay ₦1,428 for each unit of the greenback, while a seller of dollars would receive ₦1,415. This leaves a modest spread of ₦13 between the two sides of the trade. Compared with the previous day’s levels, the selling rate has shown an upward movement of roughly 5.39 percent according to market trackers that monitor Aboki FX quotes.

At the same time, the official Central Bank of Nigeria rate is hovering near ₦1,360.58 per dollar, creating a premium of approximately ₦67 or about 4.7 percent between the formal window and the street market. Traders attribute the current parallel-market levels to steady demand from importers, individuals funding overseas school fees and medical bills, and businesses requiring foreign exchange for operations that cannot be fully met through official channels.
Supply in the informal segment has remained relatively constrained, helping to keep rates firm rather than volatile. Market participants continue to watch developments around oil revenues, remittance inflows, and any further interventions by the monetary authorities that could influence liquidity and close the gap between the two markets. For now, the Aboki dollar remains the practical reference for many everyday transactions across Nigeria.
