Currency dealers in major cities including Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt quoted these rates amid steady demand for the greenback from importers, travelers and individuals handling overseas payments such as school fees and medical expenses.
The figures mark a notable shift from recent sessions, according to parallel market trackers, with the selling rate up about 5.39 percent from the previous day. At the official window, the Central Bank of Nigeria rate stood near ₦1,360.58 per dollar, creating a premium of roughly ₦67 or about 4.7 percent between the formal and informal markets.
Market participants noted that dollar supply in the street segment remained adequate for routine transactions, though not abundant, helping keep spreads relatively contained at about ₦13.
Analysts continue to monitor the dual-rate structure, observing that sustained import needs and remittance flows often sustain the parallel market premium even as official reserves and interventions provide some support to the naira in the formal system. Rates can vary slightly by location and dealer, and participants are advised to confirm quotes directly before transacting.
