The Central Bank of Nigeria’s last published official foreign exchange market rate stayed near ₦1,332 to ₦1,334 per dollar, leaving a street premium of about ₦46 to ₦48, or roughly 3.5 per cent. Tuesday quotes largely held the Monday closing band, with no sharp move in either direction, and demand from importers, travellers and students remained orderly.

External reserves were last reported near $54.9 billion, with oil receipts still supporting official liquidity. Quotes still varied slightly by location, volume, and time of day, and operators warned that the informal rate can shift before the close of business.

The gap between the official window and the parallel market has stayed comparatively tight by recent historical standards. Yet, cash transactions outside the banking system remain the practical benchmark for many users who cannot obtain dollars at the CBN rate.

Anyone planning to change money was advised to confirm the live figure with a trusted bureau or dealer, because parallel-market prices are not fixed and can move on local supply and remittance inflows.
