Street traders in the parallel market, widely known as the Aboki market, quoted the US dollar at ₦1,390 to sell and ₦1,375 to buy on Thursday, 24 September 2026, across major centres including Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

That put 100 dollars at roughly ₦139,000 for anyone purchasing hard currency on the street and ₦137,500 for those selling dollars to dealers. The official Central Bank of Nigeria window closed near ₦1,328 per dollar, leaving a gap of about ₦62, or roughly 4.5 percent, between the two markets.

The naira had shown modest strength in both official and unofficial channels in the preceding sessions, helped by higher turnover at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market and external reserves reported above $54 billion. Dealers said cash demand remained steady rather than frantic, though rates can still shift during the day depending on local supply and the volume of remittances reaching the street.

Anyone exchanging money is advised to confirm the latest quote with a trusted bureau or operator, as parallel-market prices are not fixed and can differ slightly from one location to another.
