As of Saturday, 25th July 2026, the US dollar is trading at ₦1,405 for buying and ₦1,415 for selling in Nigeria’s parallel market, popularly referred to as the Aboki or black market rate.

These figures reflect the prevailing street-level quotes reported across major centres including Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

The official Central Bank of Nigeria rate at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market stands at approximately ₦1,369.63 to the dollar, leaving a modest premium of roughly three percent on the parallel market.

Market participants attribute the current levels to a combination of steady demand from importers, travellers settling school fees and medical costs abroad, and businesses restocking inventories, balanced against improved dollar liquidity from oil receipts and diaspora remittances.

Dealers note that cash availability remains sufficient to meet routine transactions without sharp spikes, although the usual weekend caution has kept volumes moderate.

The relatively narrow gap between the formal window and the parallel market continues to limit large-scale arbitrage opportunities, a development observers link to sustained policy efforts aimed at deepening official forex supply.

Traders and analysts are watching upcoming oil market movements and any further Central Bank interventions that could influence sentiment in the days ahead. Rates can vary slightly by location and transaction size, so individuals are advised to confirm current quotes with local bureau de change operators before completing deals.
