Street traders in the Aboki market quoted the US dollar at about ₦1,350 to ₦1,355 when buying cash from customers and ₦1,362 to ₦1,370 when selling on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, across Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

A person handing over $100 would therefore receive roughly ₦135,000–₦135,500, while someone needing the same amount of dollars would pay close to ₦136,200–₦137,000. The official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate published by the Central Bank of Nigeria firmed to about ₦1,331.50 per dollar, from ₦1,332.90 in the previous session, so the street premium widened to roughly ₦30 to ₦39, or a little under 3 percent.

That is a modest reversal of Tuesday’s tighter gap, after the parallel-market quote eased from about ₦1,357 back toward ₦1,362. Demand from importers, travellers and students remained orderly, and external reserves were last reported near $54.9 billion, with oil receipts still supporting official liquidity.

Quotes still differed a little by location, volume and the hour of the day, and operators warned that the informal rate can shift before the close of business. The gap between the official window and the parallel market has stayed comparatively tight by recent historical standards.

Yet, cash transactions outside the banking system remain the practical benchmark for many users who cannot obtain dollars at the CBN rate. Anyone planning to change money was advised to confirm the live figure with a trusted bureau or dealer, because parallel-market prices are not fixed and can move on local supply and remittance inflows.
