Mohbad Autopsy Results Expected in 3-4 Weeks, Coroner’s Inquest Reveals

The much-awaited autopsy results for the late singer Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba, are expected to be ready in the next three to four weeks, as confirmed by Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre.

Dr. Somiari provided this update while testifying during the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad‘s untimely passing. Defence counsel questioned him during the proceedings.

Mohbad, who was just 27 years old, sadly passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest the following day. His death stirred up quite a bit of controversy, prompting the Lagos State Government to launch a thorough investigation through the coroner’s inquest.

The inquest, which has been ongoing at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court since October 13, 2023, is delving into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad‘s demise.

Dr. Somiari, speaking before Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, explained, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of death. We explored various possibilities, including the potential involvement of poison, since no specific cause was initially mentioned.”

He assured the public that strict security measures are in place to ensure the integrity of the autopsy samples and the accuracy of the results.

During the proceedings, Mr. Sadiq Ayobami, also known as Spendy, testified that he spent time with Mohbad the day before his passing. They attended a concert together in Ikorodu before Mohbad visited Ayobami‘s home.

Addressing Mohbad‘s parents, Mrs. Abiodun Kolawole, an activist representing the African Women Lawyers Association, advised them to pursue legal avenues for resolving any issues regarding Mohbad‘s child’s paternity, rather than resorting to social media.

Magistrate T. A. Shotobi adjourned the case until April 15 and instructed all involved parties to be present for further proceedings on that date.
