Theo Kgosinkwe (born 15 August 1973) is a creative South African composer, singer, and record producer.

He is affiliated with the popular Afro-Pop and Kwaito music group, Mafikizolo band.

He came to the limelight in 2008 for his hit jam, Umphathe Kahle, which brought him to the attention of South African music fans.

Early Life

Theo Kgosinkwe was born on the 15th day of August in 1973. He was born and bred in Kagiso, South Africa.

His love for music started from a young age. While growing up, he spent most of his time listening to songs on South African radio stations.

After listening he started copying and recreating radio personalities and musicians. Through this, he was able to learn the songs and musicians who sang them and this formed the foundation of his career in the South African entertainment industry.

Career

Theo Kgosinkwe started participating in singing competitions. He also sang in church choirs and social gatherings. He had a relatively low-key career until he met with Nhlanhla Nciza from the Mafikizolo music band. Through Nhlanhla Nciza, he gained entrance into the South African music industry.

He released his hit song, Umphathe Kahle. The song generated a lot of buzz in 2008 and brought him to national fame. He released his first music album in the same year titled, I Am. Since then he has released over 30 songs including Udakwa Njalo, Kwela Kwela, Gugothandayo, Ngeke Balunge, Love Potion, Khona, Loot, Nakupenda, Ondenzantoni, and several others.

Together with Nhlanhla Nciza, he has gotten numerous awards and multiple nominations. Between 2014 and 2018, they won 12 awards. He won an individual award in 2011, the South African Music Award for Best Afro Pop Album.
He has greatly influenced the South African music industry.

Theo Kgosinkwe recently ended a 15-year relationship with Rose Kgosinkwe in 2015. The music star was accused of not spending enough time with her and his family.

Rose also accused him of cheating with Melo (a South African music artist). These allegations were never confirmed and they finalized their divorce in 2015.
