Early Life and Education

Austin Crute came into the world on October 24, 1995, in Norcross, Georgia, to parents referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Crute. His father served as senior pastor of the family’s church, and Crute grew up immersed in a religious household alongside his sister Kristen.

He attended Greater Atlanta Christian School, where he performed extensively in musical theater and was named a finalist for the 2013 National High School Musical Theatre Awards before graduating in 2014. He later earned a BFA in Recorded Music from New York University in 2018. He is of African American origin, and his religion is Christianity.

Career

Austin Crute began performing at a young age through church and school musical theater productions. At fifteen he appeared as a contestant on the reality competition series Majors & Minors (2011–2012) and contributed to the accompanying album.

After high school he moved to New York for college and booked his first professional acting role in 2016 as “Black Justin Bieber” in an episode of Donald Glover‘s FX series Atlanta. That early credit opened doors and led to a guest appearance on Orange Is the New Black.
