Early Life and Education
Himalay Dasani was born on November 27, 1968, and is 58 years old.
He was born into a Sindhi-speaking family in India and grew up in a business- and commerce-oriented environment. Details about his parents and early family life have largely remained private.
Dasani spent part of his formative years in Maharashtra, where he attended school and eventually met Bhagyashree Patwardhan, who would later become his wife.
They were schoolmates, and their relationship developed during their teenage years. Their early friendship eventually became a serious romantic relationship despite opposition from Bhagyashree’s family.
Personal Life
Himalay Dasani has been married to actress Bhagyashree Patwardhan since January 19, 1989. Their relationship began when they were teenagers and attending the same school.
Bhagyashree came from a prominent family in Maharashtra, and her parents initially opposed her relationship with Dasani. The couple remained committed to one another and eventually married despite the resistance.
Their marriage produced two children, son Abhimanyu Dassani and daughter Avantika Dassani. Both children later entered the entertainment industry.
Abhimanyu became an actor and made his feature-film debut with Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, while Avantika entered acting through the web series Mithya. As a result, the family has maintained a strong connection with Indian entertainment across generations. Dasani and Bhagyashree have experienced difficulties during their long marriage.
Bhagyashree has publicly spoken about a period of separation that lasted about one and a half years before they reconciled. Despite that period of strain, the couple remained together and have continued to appear publicly as husband and wife.
Career
Himalay Dasani entered the Hindi film industry in the early 1990s, when his wife, Bhagyashree, was already widely recognized after her hugely successful debut in Maine Pyar Kiya.
After her marriage, Bhagyashree was selective about returning to films and preferred to work with Dasani when she resumed acting. This led the couple to appear together in several productions.
Dasani made his screen debut with Paayal in 1992, a Hindi romantic film in which he played Arjun opposite Bhagyashree, who portrayed the title character.
Mahendra Shah directed the film, which featured Farida Jalal, Annu Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, and Tiku Talsania. Although the film gave Dasani his first major acting opportunity, it did not establish him as a long-term mainstream star.
He also appeared alongside Bhagyashree in Qaid Mein Hai Bulbul and Tyagi. These films formed the central part of his acting career, with the three productions allowing the couple to work together on screen.
Their collaborations attracted attention largely because of their real-life relationship and Bhagyashree’s fame following Maine Pyar Kiya. After a short period as a screen actor, Dasani gradually shifted his focus to film production and business.
He became involved in television and entertainment production while also taking on corporate responsibilities. His business career eventually became much more substantial than his acting career.
Corporate records identify Himalay Pannalal Dassani as a director of Genesis E Tech Limited and Dreamworks Pictures Limited.
He has also held a senior position with Quantum Digital Vision (India) Limited and has been associated with other commercial enterprises.
His corporate activities have given him a long-term presence in India’s business sector, particularly through companies connected with technology, media, education, and entertainment.
Net Worth
Himalay Dasani has an estimated net worth of $3 million.
His wealth is primarily associated with his long-running business career, corporate directorships, film and television production activities, and other commercial interests.
Controversy
Himalay Dasani became the subject of significant media attention in July 2019 after he was arrested by Mumbai’s Amboli police in connection with an alleged gambling racket in Jogeshwari.
Police said his name had emerged during the interrogation of other people arrested in connection with the operation, leading to his detention from his residence.
Police subsequently produced Dasani before a local court, which granted him bail. Reports at the time described the matter as an allegation rather than a conviction, and the incident did not end his ongoing business activities. The episode remains the most prominent legal controversy associated with his public career.
