David Babafemi Mauton Osunkoya (born May 14, 1970), addressed officially as Chief Femi Branch, is a gifted Nigerian actor, filmmaker, and television.

Celebrated for his multifaceted ability and delivery, he is one of the few respected figures in the Nollywood industry.

He is famous for his roles in movies like Undying (2021), Melody of Life (2004), and A Place in the Stars (2014).

Early Life & Education

Femi Branch was born in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria, on May 14th, 1970. His parents are Otunba Gbolade and Chief Mrs. Modupe Osunkoya of Odosenbora Town in Ijebu North-East local government area of Ogun State.

While growing up in Sagamu, Femi Branch‘s parents were teachers in the city. He attended Satellite Town Primary School in Ojo, Lagos State, Nigeria, and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. 

After completing his primary school education, Femi Branch proceeded to Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. 

After completing his secondary school education, he proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts.

Career

Femi Branch began his career at Obafemi Awolowo University in 1991, the same year he featured in a Yoruba stage play titled Eniyan.

He was later featured in a movie titled Orisun (meaning: Origin) produced by members of staff of Obafemi Awolowo University. 

Still, his first television appearance was in 2003 in an MTN Group television commercial titled “Dance with Me”.

Femi Branch was famous for the role of “Oscar” he played in a Nigerian soap opera titled Domino. He has since starred in over a hundred Nigerian films, a few of which he produced and directed.

Some of his movie credits include The Triangle, Senseless, Orirun, Away from Home, Twisted, The Italian Job, Akandun, Iwalewa, Omotara Johnson 3, Teni Benson, Akuko Ija, Arungun Omo, Abela Pupa, Oju Odeda, Obirin Ale, Omonikara, Ofin Mose, Maku, Eni Ija Oba, Elebute, A place in The Stars, Fallen Angel, One Good Man, Out of luck amongst others.

Personal Life

Femi Branch was married to Ibitola Owosanoye Branch. Their marriage is blessed with two beautiful kids, Nuella Branch and Nathan Branch. 

In March 2018, he showed off his new wife at his installation as the Jagun Asa of Edeland. The actor was crowned Jagun by the Timi of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I. This means that he is a chief/king.

In 2015, Femi Branch was charged to court for allegedly issuing a dud check of 1.5million naira to De Santo Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
