Grant Aleksander was born on August 6, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Kunkowski and grew up in Timonium as the youngest of three sons. His ethnicity is American, and his religion is Christianity.
He became interested in acting after a drama teacher encouraged him to audition for a school production. Aleksander attended McDonogh School, graduating in 1978, then studied at Washington and Lee University, New York University, and Circle in the Square Theatre School.
Career
Grant Aleksander began his professional acting career in 1982 after moving to New York, where he worked as a waiter and model while pursuing acting opportunities. His first television appearance came in the ABC Afterschool Special A Very Delicate Matter.
His major breakthrough arrived later that year when he joined Guiding Light as Phillip Spaulding. He initially played Phillip from 1982 to 1984, returned in 1986, and remained associated with the character through several subsequent periods until the series ended in 2009.
During breaks from Guiding Light, Aleksander appeared in Capitol, Hardcastle and McCormick, Who’s the Boss?, The Fall Guy, You Again?, Dark Mansions, and the feature film Tough Guys. From 1993 to 1996, he played Alec McIntyre on All My Children. He later returned to Guiding Light and continued his long-running portrayal of Phillip Spaulding.
