On April 4, 1979, Heath Ledger was born in Perth, Australia, to Kim Ledger and Sally Ledger Bell.
His father, Kim Ledger, followed a career as a race car driver, while his mother, Sally Ledger Bell, was a teacher who taught French. He has three sisters; Kate Ledger, Olivia Ledger, and Ashleigh Bell.
Heath Ledger pursued his primary education at Mary’s Mount Elementary School and Guildford Grammar School. At the juvenile age of 10, he took on the role of Peter Pan in one of the performances in which he had taken part during his time at school.
