Justin Mentell was born on December 16, 1982, in Austin, Texas, and lived to the age of 27.
He spent much of his childhood in Waukegan, Illinois, where he was raised in a Christian household. From an early age, Mentell developed a strong interest in both athletics and the performing arts. He became seriously involved in competitive speed skating.
