Personal Life
Nandamuri Kalyan Ram married Swathi on August 9, 2006. The couple has two children, daughter Taraka Advitha and son Sourya Ram.
He has generally kept his wife and children away from the intense publicity surrounding the Nandamuri family, rarely making his domestic life central to his public image.
His family connections run deep in Telugu cinema. He is the grandson of N. T. Rama Rao, the son of Nandamuri Harikrishna, the brother of the late Nandamuri Janaki Ram and Nandamuri Suhasini, and the half-brother of actor N. T. Rama Rao Jr.
His position in this major film dynasty has also influenced his work as a producer and his involvement in projects tied to the family’s cinematic legacy.
Career
Kalyan Ram first appeared on screen as a child artist in Bala Gopaludu in 1989, appearing alongside his uncle Nandamuri Balakrishna. He returned to acting as an adult with Toli Choopulone and Abhimanyu in 2003.
His early films established him as a new leading performer, but his career took a major step forward when he combined acting with production.
He established N. T. R. Arts and produced Athanokkade in 2005, starring as the lead under the direction of Surender Reddy. The film became an important commercial success and gave both the actor and director a significant breakthrough.
Kalyan Ram subsequently appeared in Asadhyudu, Vijayadasami, Lakshmi Kalyanam, Hare Ram, Jayeebhava and Kalyanram Kathi, developing a screen identity strongly associated with action-oriented and emotionally intense roles.
His production activities continued with Om 3D in 2013, in which he also starred, followed by Kick 2 in 2015, starring Ravi Teja. As an actor, he found another commercial success with Pataas in 2015 and later appeared in Sher and Ism.
In 2016, he played undercover journalist Satya Marthand in Ism, demonstrating a willingness to take on roles that differed from his earlier action-hero image. He also produced Jai Lava Kusa in 2017, starring his half-brother N. T. Rama Rao Jr.
Kalyan Ram received strong attention for the 2019 investigative thriller 118, in which he played Gautham, a journalist investigating a mysterious recurring dream.
That same year, he portrayed his father, Nandamuri Harikrishna, in NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR: Mahanayakudu. He subsequently starred in Entha Manchivaadavuraa in 2020 before taking on the title role in Bimbisara in 2022.
The fantasy action film, which he also produced, became one of the major commercial successes of his later career and featured him in dual roles as Bimbisara and Devadutta.
He followed Bimbisara with the 2023 action thriller Amigos, in which he played three characters, and Devil: The British Secret Agent, in which he portrayed the title character.
His production career also expanded beyond his own starring vehicles. He served as a producer on N. T. Rama Rao Jr.’s Devara: Part 1 in 2024 and as a co-producer on Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi in 2025.
Kalyan Ram has also maintained interests outside conventional acting and film production. He is associated with Advitha Creative Studios, a visual-effects company that has worked on films including Legend, Nannaku Prematho and Krishnashtami. This has also given him a role on the technical and production side of Telugu cinema.
As of 2026, his acting slate includes the upcoming Bimbisara 2 and an untitled project with director Anil Ravipudi and Venkatesh, while his production credits include upcoming projects such as Dragon and God of War.
