Cecilia Cheung was born on May 24, 1980, in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, British Hong Kong.
She was raised by her parents, Zhang Ren Yong and Davies Shally, who is of Chinese and British descent. Her parents divorced when she was nine years old.
She grew up with three siblings Ho Lung Cheung, Dai Pek-Chi, Cheung Pak Man. At the age of fourteen, she moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she lived with her aunt and attended Camberwell Girls Grammar School.
