She stared in the 2019 Chuck Lorre CBS sitcom, Bob Hearts Abishola.

Early Life

Folake Olowofoyeku was born on the 26th of October 1983 to Nigerian politicians, Babatunji Olowofoyeku and Felicia Olowofoyeku in Lagos, Nigeria.

Growing up, she happened to be the youngest of 20 children of Babatunji Olowofoyeku.

She grew up in Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria but spent most of her time I’m London.


Folake Olowofoyeku attended a Montessori Boarding School in Benin City (Igbinedon Education Center) before she was transferred to Vivian Fowler Memorial College for girls in Ikeja, Lagos.

She also studied at Oxbridge Tutorial College.

In 2001, at 18, she emigrated to the United States where she stayed with her sister to attend City College of New York to study economics in anticipation of becoming an attorney.

During her stay at City College of New York, she played NCAA Division III College basketball for the CCNT Beavers.


After she graduated from college, Folake Olowofoyeku started working at Off-Broadway Theatre New York City.
In 2017, she appeared in the last season of Transparent. She was also featured in the 2017 Death Race 2050 as Minerva Jefferson.

In September 2019, Folake Olowofoyeku starred in Chuck Lorre CBS sitcom, Bob Hearts Abishola, where she co-starred opposite American Comedian, Billy Gardell. The sitcom was created by Chucks Lorre alongside British-Nigerian comedian, Gina Yashere, who plays the character of Kemi, Folake’s best friend.

Folake Olowofoyeku plays the role of Abishola, a Nigerian nurse who meets a businessman named, Bob in Detroit, the show features two people who find they have more in common than differences.

Music Career

Folake Olowofoyeku has a diploma in audio engineering from the Institute of Audio Research. She plays afro-beat electronic music under the moniker – THE FOLAKE. She also plays guitar, piano and has worked as a sound engineer.

In 2013, she was featured in two of David Bowie‘s videos, The Stars (Are Out Tonight) and The Next Day as his bass guitarist. Both videos were directed by Sigismondi Floria.
