 At the same time, her mother, Sonja Norwood (née Bates), holds the position of district manager for H&R Block. Not only is Brandy recognized as the older sister of entertainer Ray J, but she also shares familial connections with rapper Snoop Dogg and wrestler Mercedes Moné, also known as Mercedes Varnado. Brandy Norwood did not finish high school in the traditional sense. She attended the Hollywood High Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles but left in 1993 to pursue her music career.
