Early life and Education
Lexi was born on November 22, 2005, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later lived in Cook County, Illinois.
She was raised by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vang, in a Hmong-American family environment. Lexi has three brothers. Their names have not been publicly disclosed. Her ethnicity is Hmong-American, and her religion is Christianity.
Her Hmong heritage is an important part of her background, and she has expressed admiration for Sunisa “Suni” Lee, the Hmong-American Olympic gymnast who inspired her growing up. Dance became one of Lexi’s strongest interests during childhood.
She trained in ballet for about 12 years, eventually performing competitively across the United States and even travelling to South Korea for a ballet competition. Her long ballet training helped develop the discipline, balance, and stage awareness that later became valuable as she transitioned into K-pop performance.
Before appearing on television, Lexi joined the K-pop cover group Prism Kru around 2019. She performed choreography from Korean pop acts and gradually became more interested in pursuing entertainment as a full-time career.
Her early dance experience also gave her a foundation for the demanding choreography associated with idol performances. Lexi attended Wausau East High School.
Her formal education developed alongside her extensive dance training and growing interest in music and performance.
Rather than pursuing a conventional university route immediately after high school, she concentrated on developing her professional entertainment career after being selected for A2K.
Career
Lexi entered the professional entertainment spotlight after auditioning for A2K (America2Korea), a global audition project created by JYP Entertainment to form a new girl group aimed at an international audience. She progressed through the competition and demonstrated strengths in dance, vocals, stage presence and character.
During the competition, she received several performance distinctions, including the Dance Stone, Vocal Stone and Star Quality Stone. She also ranked first in the individual mission and finished first overall. Her final ranking secured her position in the new girl group that became VCHA.
VCHA officially debuted on January 26, 2024, under JYP Entertainment, initially as a six-member group.
Lexi emerged as the group’s leader, alongside Camila Ribeaux Valdes, Kendall Ebeling, Savanna Collins, KG Crown and Kaylee Lee. She also participated in the group’s early promotional activities, recordings and music videos. Her VCHA credits included the group’s debut material and the music video “Y.O.Universe.”
She also participated in the group’s releases and performances as a vocalist and dancer, bringing the stage discipline she developed through years of ballet training into the idol environment.
In 2025, VCHA underwent major changes. KG left the group in December 2024, and Kaylee followed in July 2025. VCHA officially ended its activities in August 2025, and the remaining members—Lexi, Camila, Kendall and Savanna—rebranded as GIRLSET.
GIRLSET launched its new era on August 29, 2025, beginning its rebranded activities around the single “Commas.” Lexi remained the group’s leader and participated in the accompanying music video and choreography content.
The group continued releasing visual and musical content in 2025 and 2026, including “Little Miss,” “Commas,” and “Tweak.” Lexi appears in the official visual material as one of the four members, continuing her work as a singer, dancer and performer.
