Travis Landon Barker (born November 14, 1975), addressed professionally as Travis Barker, is a gifted American musician and songwriter. He is a musical artist who is the drummer for the popular rock band, Blink-182. 

He has featured many hip-hop artists as well as rock bands. He is also a member of the rap group Transplants.

Travis Barker also founded some rock groups such as +44 and Box Car Racer. He later joined Goldfinger and Antemasque. He is referred to as one of the 100 greatest drummers of all time. The rolling stones nicknamed him “punk’s first superstar drummer.” 

He was born in Fontana, California, where he began drumming at a young age. He played for The Aquabats in 1996 but later left to join BLINK-182 in 1998. He is a very talented drummer and is mainly known worldwide for drumming.

Early Life & Education

Travis Barker was born in Fontana, California, United States, on November 14, 1975. He was born to American parents, Gloria Barker (mother) and Randy Barker. He has two siblings; his sister’s name is Shanna Barker.

When he was 4 years old, his mother gave him his first drum kit. He was to keep this drum kit till the age of 15. He began taking drum lessons at the age of 5 with Michael Mai, who is a drummer. Michael Mai exposed him to different drumming routines. 

When he enrolled in junior high, he began taking trumpet and piano lessons and joined the Madrigal’s Men and Women’s Choir. Travis Barker also attempted to be a surfer, but all attempts failed, leading him back to drumming, which he adored so much. He talks about being able to describe himself through drumming more than anything else. 

Travis Barker lost his mother to Sjogren syndrome 3 months before he entered high school. Before she died, she told him to be passionate about his dreams and to follow his heart. 

At Fontana High School, he played for the school’s marching bands. He gained experience in jazz rhythm but was more attracted to hip hop and rock punk.

Career

Travis Barker graduated from Fontana High School and became a trash can collector in Laguna Beach. He met the punk rock bands Snot and Feeble at the beach and decided to join the band in 1993. 

This is where he met Chad Larson, who was the co-founder of The Aquabats and SKA punk groups in 1994. The band then recruited him through Chad Larson. The group then recorded The Fury of The Aquabats, produced by Jim Goodwin. The Aquabats nicknamed Travis Barker “Baron Von Tito” reason unknown to them to date. 

Travis Barker‘s mainstream success was between 1999 and 2004. He had joined BLINK-182 in 1998. His first album with the group was Enema of The State, which was released in June 1999 and brought the band to stardom. What’s My Age Again, All The Small Things, and Adams‘ songs became commercial breakthroughs for the bank for years. The songs became hits on modern rock charts and peaked at number 6 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Travis Barker also started a famous clothing line which he named Stars and Straps. The clothing line was influenced by the punk rock skating board community. His clothing line also reflects his love for crazy tattoos.

Personal Life

Travis Barker was first married to Melissa Kennedy. The marriage lasted only 9 months. He filed for divorce in August 2002. 

He later got married to an actress and Miss USA Shanna Moakler in 1995. The duo had two children together, a son, Landon Asher Barker, born in 2003, and a daughter, Alabama Luella Barker, born in 2005. 

Travis Barker also has a stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, whom Shanna Moakler had with her ex-husband, Oscar De La Hoya. The family appeared in the TV show Meet the Barkers, which aired on MTV from 2005 to 2006.

The couple, however, filed for a divorce two years after the marriage. The divorce took to social media on “My Space” as both coupled poured their emotions on the platform.

In late 2015, Travis Barker started dating singer Rita Ora. The duo made heads turn as they were both stunning. The relationship didn’t last too long.

There were rumors in 2020 that Travis Barker had started dating Kourtney Kardashian. It became official in 2021 when the couple got engaged. They had an unofficial wedding in Las Vegas in April 2022 and got officially married on May 15th, 2022.
