Neil Lane’s name has become synonymous with the Bachelor franchise, as he has designed the engagement rings given to all of the show’s female contestants on their episodes of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette since 2002.

Early Life & Education

Neil Lane was born in 1960 in Los Angeles, California, United States of America. He grew up in Brooklyn. His father was a jeweler, and his mother worked as a buyer at Macy’s Department Store. He attended high school at New York City’s High School of Art and Design, where he studied sculpture. 

After high school, he attended Parsons School of Design, where he majored in design and graduated with honors. While at Parsons, he interned with Andy Warhol, who became one of his biggest influences and mentors. 

In 1982, he opened his first jewelry store in Santa Monica called Neil Lane Designs. In 1989, he began designing jewelry for celebrities such as Madonna and Cher. In 1990, he designed a line of jewelry sold exclusively through QVC, generating US$1 million in sales within its first hour. 

The same year, he started designing pieces for celebrities appearing on The Bachelor, including Chris Harrison, Emily Maynard, and Arie Luyendyk Jr.

Personal Life

Neil Lane is presently single. Even though his job has brought many individuals together, he is still unmarried. At the very least, he never exposed his love life or affairs.

Career

In addition to creating jewelry for these famous people, Neil Lane is known for making custom designs for each customer he works with. For example, one of his clients was a mother who had lost her son in an accident.

She wanted a necklace that would represent her son’s life. She gave him pictures of her son and some pieces of his clothing; then Neil Lane designed a necklace that incorporated all these items into one piece. This necklace became a symbol of love and strength that she wore every day after her loss.
