Early Life

Rich Mnisi was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 14th of December 1993.

He got his inspiration for fashion from his younger sister after she turned a pair of jeans into a skirt. He started designing magazine papers and curtains by cutting and blending them to give them a better look.

Rich Mnisi‘s mother wanted him to follow another career path as fashion designing wasn’t appealing to her choice but he pursued fashion.

His interest in fashion grew exponentially as he advanced in age and his education was based on his love for fashion.

The following year, he showcased his fashion collection at the Design Indaba Expo. He describes the story of the African culture through his fashion designs and his fashion works bear a close resemblance to ancient African history.

Rich Mnisi brand is a mixture of modern music, art, and nature along with African culture and this unique style has exposed him beyond the walls of Africa and he’s recognized internationally. He is credited to have designed fashion apparel for Beyoncé and Naomi Campbell.

His clothing line has popularized African tradition and covers both menswear and womenswear. His first trans-seasonal collection titled Xingelengele was showcased in 2017 and his most recent fashion collection was titled Alkebulan.

He also launched a furniture line named after his late grandmother Nwa’Mulamula and consists of a chaise and a stool. He has received several partnership deals, his most notable deal with the Coca-Cola brand.
