In 2004, legal action was taken by the Winklevoss brothers against Mark Zuckerberg, alleging that he had illicitly appropriated their ConnectU concept to establish the viral social media platform known as Facebook. Eventually, this legal dispute was resolved outside the courtroom in 2008, resulting in a settlement wherein the Winklevoss brothers were awarded $65 million for their grievances.

 In 2012, Cameron Winklevoss and his brother Tyler Winklevoss established Winklevoss Capital Management, a venture capital firm focusing on backing emerging technology companies in their early stages.
