Early Life and Education
Ubah Hassan was born on August 27, 1983, in Baidoa, Somalia, one of five children to Mr. and Mrs. Hassan.
In 1991, as civil war engulfed the country, her mother and three sisters fled to Ethiopia while Hassan, her father, and her brother remained in Somalia. The family endured years of separation before reuniting in Canada when Hassan was 15 years old.
Upon arrival, they lived in a homeless shelter for a year. At 17, she was scouted by a photographer in a Vancouver park, an encounter that launched her modelling career. She is of Somali ethnicity and follows Islam.

Ubah Hassan was talent-spotted at a park in Vancouver at the age of 17, which led to modelling work in Vancouver and Toronto.
