The Blums were descendants of immigrants from Brest Litovsk, Belarus (now Brest, Belarus), and Judge Judy has often spoken fondly of her familial heritage.

Judy Sheindlin was a precocious student, graduating from James Madison High School in 1960 before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in government from American University in 1963. She then obtained a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 1964, setting the stage for her illustrious legal career.

Judy Sheindlin began her professional journey as an attorney for the Legal Aid Society in New York City before transitioning to the role of a prosecutor in the family court system.

Personal Life

Judy Sheindlin, the indomitable arbitrator of justice, reportedly entered the sacred bonds of matrimony for the first time in 1964 at the tender age of 22. Her spouse was none other than Ronald Levy, who would later become a prosecutor in a juvenile court.

The couple was blessed with two children, a son named Jamie Hartwright and another offspring named Adam Levy. Unfortunately, their union was reportedly annulled a mere dozen years after it was consecrated.

Judy Sheindlin then espoused Judge Jerry Sheindlin in 1977, a man who also served as an arbitrator on The People’s Court from 1999 to 2001. Tragically, the couple was forced to dissolve their marriage in 1990 due to the overwhelming stress and grief Judy Sheindlin endured following her father’s passing that same year.

Jerry Sheindlin and Judge Judy had a single daughter together, the lovely Nicole Sheindlin. Fortunately, the flames of their love were not extinguished by the crucible of time, and the couple was able to rekindle their romance in 1991. They gave birth to Jonathan Sheindlin and Gregory Sheindlin.
