Alongside his older brother, two stepbrothers, and a constellation of six nieces and three nephews, David‘s journey was colored by the bonds of kinship. A cherished sister named Rebecca Muir completed the tapestry of his familial connections. Together, they shared moments of laughter, growth, and unconditional support with their parents, Ronald Muir and Pat Mills.

From a tender age, David Muir was captivated by the power of news. As evening fell, the household would gather around the television, their eyes fixed on the main program of ABC News. During these shared experiences, the seeds of inspiration were sown, with veteran anchor Peter Jennings serving as David‘s beacon of journalistic excellence. The resonant voice and commanding presence of Jennings left an indelible mark on the young mind, fueling his desire to pursue a career in news reporting.

With his high school years closing, David Muir embarked on a new chapter at Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School. After graduating in May 1991, he set his sights on Ithaca College, a prestigious institution renowned for its Park School of Communications.
