Le Corbusier was born on October 6, 1887, in the watchmaking town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. His parents, Georges Édouard Jeanneret, a watch enameler, and Marie Charlotte Amélie Perret, a pianist and teacher, raised him. He had one older brother, Albert.
