As of Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the parallel market rate popularly tracked as the Aboki Naira to Dollar exchange stood at approximately ₦1,410 for selling and ₦1,402 for buying in major Nigerian cities including Lagos, Abuja and Kano.

This means traders were offering to sell one United States dollar for 1,410 naira while willing to purchase the greenback at 1,402 naira, according to open market aggregators and Bureau de Change operators. The figures reflect a modest movement from the previous session and keep the street rate trading at a premium of roughly 3.4 percent over the official Central Bank of Nigeria window, where the naira was quoted near ₦1,362 per dollar.

Market participants attributed the levels to steady demand from importers, travellers and businesses seeking foreign exchange outside formal banking channels, even as dollar liquidity on the streets remained relatively adequate.

The narrow gap between the official and parallel rates continues to signal improved conditions compared with the wider spreads seen in earlier years, supported by higher oil revenues, diaspora remittances and ongoing foreign exchange market reforms.

Rates can still vary slightly by location and transaction size, and the Central Bank continues to urge individuals and firms to use authorised banking channels rather than the unregulated parallel market.
