Traders in Nigeria’s parallel market quoted the United States dollar at about ₦1,400 to buy and ₦1,410 to sell on Sunday, 30 August 2026, according to rates compiled from street dealers and Bureau de Change operators in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

That means a person selling $100 to an aboki would receive roughly ₦140,000, while buying the same $100 would cost about ₦141,000. The official Central Bank of Nigeria window was trading near ₦1,338 to ₦1,344 per dollar, leaving a premium of around ₦66 to ₦73, or roughly 5 percent, between the two markets.

Quotes varied slightly by city and by the size of the deal, with some platforms listing a buy figure closer to ₦1,390 and a sell figure of ₦1,397, but ₦1,400/₦1,410 was the most widely reported pair for the day. The naira had recently strengthened in the official market on stronger reserves and higher FX turnover.

Yet, demand for cash dollars among importers, travellers and households kept the street rate firmer. Parallel-market prices can shift several times in a single day and are not recognised by the CBN, so anyone exchanging currency is advised to compare multiple dealers before settling a transaction.

At today’s aboki sell rate, $1,000 would cost about ₦1.41 million, while $50 would cost about ₦70,500.
