Aboki Naira to Dollar Black Market Exchange Rate Today, 8th September 2026

The Nigerian naira opened Tuesday, 8 September 2026, with a familiar gap between official and street prices as informal traders in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt quoted the dollar at ₦1,410 to sell and ₦1,385 to buy. That parallel-market spread of ₦25 left anyone needing cash dollars paying a premium of roughly 6.3 percent over the Central Bank of Nigeria’s latest official window rate of about ₦1,321.22.

Dealers described moderate early-morning demand from importers stocking goods and from households covering school fees and medical bills abroad.

Supply remained tight enough to keep the selling rate near ₦1,410 after a modest rise from the previous session, even as Nigeria’s external reserves have climbed above $54 billion and official-market turnover has stayed relatively firm. Bureau-de-change operators and street traders said rates can still differ by a few naira from one neighborhood to another depending on the size of the deal and how quickly cash is needed.

At these street prices, $100 costs about ₦141,000 to purchase and fetches about ₦138,500 if sold, while $1,000 would require roughly ₦1.41 million. Official-window calculations for the same amounts sit closer to ₦132,122 and ₦1.32 million respectively. Market watchers continue to track oil receipts, diaspora remittances and CBN interventions for signs that the premium between the two markets might narrow further this month.

Rates in the informal segment remain fluid and can shift during the day, so travellers and businesses are advised to confirm the latest quotes with licensed operators before exchanging cash.
