Early Life & Education

Born on April 18, 1977, in Pimville, Soweto, South Africa, Azania Mosaka is the daughter of Rabotapi Mosaka and Ouma Mosaka. Raised by her mother, Ouma Mosaka, after her father’s departure during her childhood, Azania has two older sisters, Lebohang Mosaka and Tshidi Mosaka.

Despite facing challenges, Azania displayed curiosity and ambition from a young age. Excelling in her studies, she revealed an interest in journalism early on. Driven to make a mark in the media world, she actively pursued opportunities through internships at local newspapers and radio stations, gaining valuable real-world experience.

Career

In 1996, Azania Mosaka kick-started her career by co-hosting The Joint’s youth discussion program on the now-defunct SABC channel Modern Community Values. Following this, she ventured to London as a hotel receptionist at McDonald’s. After a three-year stint, she returned to South Africa, resuming her work in television.

Azania joined Metro FM in 2000, initially hosting the drive-time show Route 326 from 2000 to 2004. Subsequently, she helmed the 9 a.m.–noon show Complete Bliss from 2004 to 2007. Concurrently, she presented the television shows Bassiq (2005–2006) and Backstreet Live (2007–2008).

Transitioning to e.tv in 2007, Azania Mosaka presented The Sound of Breakfast from 2007 to 2009 and the talk show Real Talk from 2009 to 2010. Although Real Conversation was cancelled after one season, Mosaka continued her journey.

In 2010, she commenced her role as a host for Power FM, presenting the drive-time show Power Lunch from 2010 to 2015. Moving on, she joined Radio 702 in 2015 and presently anchors The Azania Mosaka Show on weekday afternoons.

Beyond her media career, Azania Mosaka is a dedicated philanthropist and businesswoman. As the creator and director of Miles Productions, she also established the non-profit organization Peo Impact Gardens, providing educational opportunities to children in Soweto. Azania Mosaka stands as a respected and influential figure in South African media.
