Iniobong Edo Ekim (born 23 April 1982) is a celebrated and legendary figure in the Nigerian movie industry addressed as Ini Edo.

She is a multifaceted Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and television personality.

Ini Edo began her film career in 2000 and has featured in more than 100 movies since her debut. In 2013, she was a judge for the Miss Black Africa UK Pageant. 

In 2014, the United Nations appointed Miss Ini Edo Nations as a United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy.

Early Life & Education

Actress Ini Edo was born on the 23rd of April, 1982, in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She has two siblings; a sister named Ukeme Edo and a brother Oti Edo.

The actress was brought up in a religious family. Her mother worked as a teacher and her father as a church elder. She has three other siblings, two sisters and one brother.

The beautiful actress Ini Edo attended Connely College in Uyo and later joined the University of Uyo and graduated with a Diploma in Theatre Arts. She, later on, advanced her studies and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calabar, where she studied English.

Ini Edo‘s acting career started in 2003 with her debut in Thick Madam. A producer discovered her at the audition she attended. Her breakthrough came in 2004 when she acted in World Apart.

She has appeared in over 100 films; Ini Edo is one of the most successful actresses in Nigeria. She earned a “Best Lead Actress” nomination at the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performance in the movie “While You Slept“

Ini Edo, however, in 2017, made it clear that only hard work can get one to the top in the Nollywood industry as there are many distractions. But she encouraged that with determination, one would get there.

Personal Life

In 2008, the actress Ini Edo got married to a famous American-based businessman named Philip Ehiagwina.

Their wedding was first celebrated and officially registered in Nigeria and several months, in February 2009, repeated in Texas where the husband lived.

 In 2014, everything collapsed, and Ini Edo stepped out of the unhappy marriage claiming that the reason for their divorce was specific “irreconcilable differences,” which the couple could not overcome.

Ini Edo‘s marriage only lasted six years, and the actress is currently single and focusing on her own life.

The actress, Ini Edo, however, has given birth to her initial child through surrogacy. The entertainer uncovered she decided to have her initial daughter through surrogacy to satisfy her fantasy about turning into a mother.

She said, “OK, I have a girl, and I had her through surrogacy. The eggs are mine thus hereditarily, and she’s my blood.”

She has been rumored to have the celebrities like Jim Iyke, Mike Godson, D’banj, as boyfriends in the past.
