Early Life

Bella Shmurda was born to the Yoruba family of Mr and Mrs Ahmed. He was born on the 27th Of January 1997 in the city of Lagos. He is an indigene of Lagos State.

His parents named Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed eight days after his birth. He was raised in Okokomaiko town, in the mainland part of Lagos. He came from a Muslim household and practised the same religion.

Bella Shmurda comes from a middle-class background, and living in Okokomaiko, exposed him to the hardship faced by millions of Nigeria and created in him a desire to succeed.

Career

Bella Shmurda first tasted success in the industry after releasing his debut single, Vision 2020, in 2018. The song, which had been produced by the veteran, ID Cabasa, got to the attention of Olamide.

As someone who had risen from the streets to become a global star, Olamide could relate to Bella Shmurda‘s song, and he saw the passion for success in the younger’s artiste. Thus, Olamide decided to collaborate with Bella Shmurda and appeared as a featured artist on the remix of Vision 2020.

As expected, the remix was an instant hit, surpassing the success of the original song, and Bella Shmurda became the newest kid on the block in the Street Pop music scene. As he became popular, collaboration invites and performance gigs began to drop on his laps.

In 2019, he released the Bylinx-produced, Only You to critical acclaim. The song did well locally, reassuring his fans that he wasn’t a one-hit one-wonder artist.

Two years, he came onto the big stage; Bella Shmurda took the industry once more with the release of the hit song Cash App (featuring Zlatan Ibile) in 2020. The single secured a nomination for the “Most Played Song – Street Pop” at the NET Honours. Cash App helped to boost Bella Shmurda‘s fame in the Afrobeats space.

That same year, Bella Shmurda dropped his debut project, High Tension. The EP is a 7-track project composed of the following singles: Ginger Me, Omnipotent, Liquor, Sho Mo Mi, Amope, Upgrade and Vision 2020.

He lent his vocals to the creation of Carpie Diem and A Better Time Albums by Olamide and Davido, respectively. He was featured on Triumphant (by Olamide) and Fade Away (by Davido). The songs were released in 2020

In 2021, he thrilled his fans to hit songs such as Rush, World, Party Next Door (PND), and So Cold. He began work on his sophomore project, High Tension 2.0 and released it on the 7th Of July, 2021.

He performed for the first time at The 02 Arena in Wizkid‘s show, held in November 2021.

Bella Shmurda released the single, My Friends in 2022. The video of the single, which was shot and directed by Visuals by Jubreel, was released on the 23rd Of February 2022.

Bella Schmurda (Boi Bella) started aiming for a big name in his music career at a very young age. His major limelight entry came after his 2019 released song “Vision 2020” viral video with talented dancer and leg worker Poco Lee created fierce fans love for him. The talented singer received Olamide’s call who loved the tune and requested a remix, then quickly laced his verse on it as promised.

After the successful release of “Vision 2020 (Remix)” featuring Olamide, a video was shot to follow up the lovely tune trend. This gave Bella Schmurda his massive exposure and fan base.
