Tragically, her father passed away from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was in Grade 11. Following her parents’ separation, Nkosi relocated to Eshowe, also in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa.

Originally harbouring ambitions of a legal career, Jessica Nkosi faced a setback in her second year of university while studying criminal law. Undeterred, she decided to pivot her academic focus. Subsequently, she pursued drama and performing arts at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, completing her coursework and graduating in 2012.
