Early Life & Education

Simi Drey was born on June 25 (year unknown) and raised in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. Her father is from the Ibadan part of Oyo State, Nigeria.

She is a British and Nigerian citizen of Yoruba ancestry. She was raised alongside her siblings in the UK, though her father resided permanently in Nigeria during her childhood.

Simi Drey is not idle, so she founded the student Magazine and became the editor. She was involved in extracurricular activities besides the school magazine editor, like being a member of the women officers representing the school Student’s Guild.

Simi Drey completed her high school education in the UK and graduated from the prestigious University of Wales with a first-class degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, and Media. 

Career

Simi Drey decided to move to Nigeria after completing her internship at HiTV in Lagos, which served as a summer vacation job for her, but before her summer vacation job in Nigeria, she had worked for a radio station in Wales known as Calon FM.  

After weighing her options between working as a broadcaster in the UK and Nigeria, she went for Nigeria because there are more opportunities there and making her name for herself would be easily done in her home country, Nigeria. After attaining her university degree in 2015, she relocated to Nigeria and signed up for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Subsequently, during her NYSC year, Simi Drey got a full-time job offer from CoolTV as a presenter. She is presently working at Beat FM as a presenter, where she hosts a talk called The Saturday Afternoon Show and another titled The Sunday Afternoon Show.

Her career as a model and actress began after that; she would attend modelling and acting auditions. Her talent and skills landed her several gigs in the profession. She has hosted several local and international events, including the MTVema Awards, and BetKingNigeria brand unveiling, among others.

Additionally, Simi Drey has featured as an actress in many top movies and drama series, including The Governor, Tinsel, Happy father’s Day, and Another father’s Day.

Simi Drey has been able to develop her passion, sourcing inspirations from the likes of Mo Abudu, Oprah Winfrey, and Bonang Matheba. She has even hosted several top Nigerian and international celebrities on Red carpets.
