Early Life and Education

Toyin Afolayan was born on 24 September 1959 in Agbamu, a town in Kwara State, Nigeria, and she is currently 65.

She is the cousin of the late Adeyemi Afolayan, also known as Ade Love, a famous actor, producer, and director. She grew up in a large family with many relatives in the entertainment industry.

She attended St. Anne’s Primary School and St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Ilorin, Kwara State. She later obtained a Catering and Hotel Management diploma from Kwara State Polytechnic.

Personal Life

Toyin Afolayan married Mr. Afolayan, a businessman, in the early 1980s. They had three daughters and a son, who died in infancy.

Her husband passed away in 1996, leaving her a widow. She has not remarried since then, saying it is not a priority for her age.

She is a devout Christian and a Cherubim and Seraphim church member. She is also a grandmother to several grandchildren, whom she loves dearly.


Toyin Afolayan started acting in the 1980s, influenced by her cousin Ade Love. She debuted in a movie titled Ija Ominira, produced by Ade Love.
