Early Life

Deyemi Okanlawon was born in the mid 80’s to the family of Mr Adeyemi Okanlawon and Mrs Adeyinka Okanlawon. His father is an Aircraft Engineer while his mother is an entrepreneur and baker.

He was raised in the city of Lagos where he completed his primary, secondary and university education.

His first acting experience was when he acted in a play performed during his school’s prize-giving day. He was five years old.

At age 9, Deyemi Okanlawon came to national prominence when he was cast in a TV commercial with ace actor, Kunle Bamtefa.

Education

Deyemi Okanlawon obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from Taikenny Nursery and Primary School, Lagos.

While he obtained his West African School Certificate from International School, Lagos.

For his higher education, he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos.

Deyemi Okanlawon obtained a certificate in Acting for Film from the New York Film Academy.

Career

While at the university, Deyemi Okanlawon joined three drama groups where he participated actively. The drama groups are Xtreme Reaction, Gf(x) (Harvesters Company) and Snapshots (Covenant Christian Center).

He made his debut in the Nollywood industry in the short film, A Grain Of Wheat. His first feature film appearance was the movie, ZR-7.

In the next two years (2010-2012), he had made fame for himself by appearing in several short films and web series such as Blink, Knock Knock. Some of these projects were produced by him.

In the past decade, he has appeared in over 50 films, TV series, short films and web series. Deyemi Okanlawon is also a successful stage actor and has acted in about eight stage plays.

In 2020, he was featured in the Nollywood blockbuster, Omo Ghetto The Saga where he played the role, Femi Stone. The movie was produced by the leading actor, producer and director, Funke Akindele.

As a model, he has appeared in commercials for Globacom, OLX and the music videos of artists such as Falz, Aramide and Waje.
