Kevin Parker was born on January 20, 1986, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, he is the son of Jerry Parker and Rosalind Parker. His father was from Zimbabwe, while his mother was from South Africa. He grew up alongside his full brother, Steve Parker and half-sister, Helen Parker. His religion is Christianity.

Tame Impala released its debut EP in 2008, followed by the critically acclaimed album Innerspeaker in 2010. Lonerism followed in 2012 and brought greater international attention, while Currents in 2015 represented a major stylistic shift toward synthesizers, disco, electronic music, and psychedelic pop.
The 2020 album The Slow Rush continued Parker’s evolution toward psychedelic pop and dance music and became Tame Impala’s highest-charting album in several major markets at the time. In 2025, Parker released Deadbeat, Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, continuing his exploration of electronic and dance-oriented psychedelic music.
Outside Tame Impala, Kevin Parker has become an influential producer and songwriter for other major artists. His production and songwriting credits include work with Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Rihanna, SZA, Mark Ronson, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Pond, and Justice.
His collaboration with Justice on “Neverender” won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, while Tame Impala’s “End of Summer” won the same category at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
