On March 29, 1980, Chris D’Elia was born in Montclair, New Jersey, United States. His parents are interior decorator Ellie D’Elia (née Dombroski) and television producer and director Bill D’Elia

His mother, Ellie D’Elia, is of Italian and Polish ancestry, and his father, Bill D’Elia, is a second-generation Italian-American. 

Matt D’Elia, an actor and filmmaker, is his younger brother. Chris D’Elia‘s family moved to Los Angeles when he was 12 years old, and in the late 1990s, he attended La Canada High School

Career

Chris D’Elia began acting in high school and appeared in a few Chicago Hope guest spots. He studied acting at New York University but left after a year because he did not enjoy college. Then he made an appearance in a direct-to-DVD film. He began creating scripts in his spare time while working as an actor. He chose to try stand-up comedy when he was 25 since he had always wanted to. 

Since 2006, Chris D’Elia has been doing stand-up comedy. His debut performance took place in North Hollywood’s Ha Ha Café. He sees himself as a stand-up comedian who also performs on stage. 

He has appeared on the Comedy Central programs Live at Gotham, Comedy Central Presents, and Live Nude Comedy on Showtime. Chris D’Eliagained more exposure when he frequently appeared on the TBS television program Glory Daze, which had one season. His first casting was for the pilot episode alone, but he has eventually appointed a series regular. Then, for two seasons, he co-starred with comic Whitney Cummings in the NBC comedy series Whitney

Along with Bryan Callen and Will SassoChris D’Elia served as one of the three hosts of the Ten Minute Podcast from 2012 to 2015. Since February 2017, he has served as the host of the Congratulations with Chris D’Elia weekly podcast, which has been among the top 20 comedic podcasts worldwide.

With the exception of No Pain, which was directed by his brother, these were all directed by his father. Chris D’Elia played Danny Burton, a ladies’ guy whose buddies are all unbeatable in one way or another, in the lead role of the NBC sitcom Undateable from 2014 to 2016. 

Improvisation was frequently used in the show, which featured a cast of stand-up comedians who were already close friends. Bill Lawrence, the show’s executive producer, and the cast’s comics (Chris D’Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, and Rick Glassman) embarked on a series tour in 2015.

With special guest Ron Funches, he was the star of the Chicago Leafly 420 Comedy Tour performance in 2016. Chris D’Elia was revealed to have been given the recurring part of Henderson on the second season of the Netflix suspense series You in March 2019. 

Chris D’Elia admitted that Eminem was among the best rappers of all time while imitating the rapper and mocking his middle-aged fans on an episode of his Congratulations podcast from April 2018. He posted videos online in September 2018 (in his car) and January 2019 in which he imitated Eminem‘s rapping once more after receiving positive feedback for his first attempt (in his garage).

An audio sample from the driving scene was then utilized in the song Homicide by Logic and Eminem, dated May 2019. Chris D’Elia stated that being a part of the song was a great honor, and he did not request compensation. 

Chris D’Elia then had a significant part in the song’s music video, which was unveiled in June 2019 and included someone else performing each rapper’s verse or lip-syncing it: In homage to a funny internet meme that said Logic and Eminem were the same person, actor Chauncey Leopardi played the role of Logic, while Chris D’Elia played the role of Eminem, mirroring Chris D’Elia‘s appearance in the car video.

Chris D’Elia wed actress Emily Montague in 2006. In 2010, they got divorced. Chris D’Elia wed his longtime girlfriend, Kristin Taylor, on June 18, 2022. Their union is blessed with a son named Calvin D’Elia, born in 2020.

Although Chris D’Elia‘s characters in the television show Whitney (Alex Miller) and Undateable (Danny Burton) are both shown to be heavy drinkers, it is said that he has never used drugs or alcohol.
