Early Life & Education

NG Kwee Khim, also known as Kym Ng, was born on July 1st, 1967. She was born and is the first in a family of four children. Her father is named Jin Ng, while her mother is Virginia Ng. 

Her parents were working-class. There aren’t many details about her childhood days at the moment.

Regarding her educational background, Kym Ng received her education at River Valley High School and did pre-university studies (A Levels) at Tanjong Katong Secondary School.

In 2009, at the age of 42, Kym Ng got married for the first time to her long-time boyfriend, Yang Guo, in a low-key wedding. The wedding was held at an undisclosed location somewhere overseas.

Kym Ng started her career in the entertainment industry as a vocalist before working as a flight attendant for Singapore Airlines. She then joined the antecedent of MediaCorp, Television Corporation of Singapore, in 1995 and made the transition to hosting and acting. She gained popularity among viewers when she co-hosted the infotainment show City Beat with Pan Lingling, Lina Ng, Sharon Au, and Bryan Wong.

Kym Ng‘s performance in the show led to her first two victories in the Star Awards’ prized Best Variety Show Host category. She joined SPH MediaWorks after leaving MediaCorp in 2001. She returned to MediaCorp after SPH MediaWorks and MediaCorp merged four years later.

In 2005, Li Lin Wee, a director, approached Kym Ng about acting in the film Gone Shopping. Her performance was lauded by The Straits Times.

Kym Ng served as the host of a popular variety program titled Love on a Plate in 2011. At the 2011 Star Awards, the program won Best Variety Program, earning her third victory as Best Variety Show Host.
