He is an on-screen personality with over 41 years of on-screen experience. He is a pioneer in the Singaporean entertainment industry.

Early Life & Education

Bryan Wong was born on January 30th, 1971. He grew up in Kampong in Kembangan, a small municipality in Singapore. He grew up alongside his only sister, Varilyn Wong, also called “Val” for short.

Although his father’s identity is relatively unknown, his mother is called Margaret Wong, and they all share an apartment in Singapore. Regarding his education, Bryan Wong received his education at Tanjong Katong Secondary Technical School.

During this period, he discovered his knack for “DIY” interior designing and carpentry. Bryan Wong did a lot of great carpentry work and interior designing without special knowledge and training.

After a brief career as an interior designer, he began working full-time as an artist for TCS in 1994. Although his first hosting position was for Gen Y’s teen lifestyle show, he was initially introduced to television by the infotainment show City Beat in the late 1990s.

Bryan Wong received poor ratings from the general public at the annual Star Awards, while his co-hosts, Kym Ng and Sharon Au, won prizes. Later, he admitted that he had considered quitting numerous times but was forced to continue since he needed to provide for himself. Bryan Wong and several other artists left TCS in 2000 to work for the newly established SPH MediaWorks.

After appearing in several China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan films while working with SPH MediaWorks, Wong became well-known as an actor in mainland China.
