Ian Fang Wei Jie, a renowned Chinese actor, was born in Shanghai, China, on December 13th, 1989. His mother, Fang Pei Pei, raised him and his younger sister, Yixin Fang, alone after their parents’ divorce in 1993, which was caused by the problems arising from their long-distance relationship. Despite being a full-blooded Chinese man, he holds Singaporean citizenship.

After the separation, Ian Fang and his sister remained with their mother, who worked tirelessly to provide for them. In 2002, he relocated to Singapore and began his education at Stamford Primary School before moving to Bendemeer Secondary School.
