Abdulrasheed Bawa (born 30th April 1980) is a renowned Nigerian detective and law enforcement agent. He worked and served as the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crime Commission chairman (EFCC).

Early Life & Education

Abdulrasheed Bawa was born on the 30th day of April in the year 1980. Aged 43 years old, he was born and raised in Jega, a small village in Kebbi State, Nigeria.

He reportedly auctioned the trucks of petrol at nominal prices while he was the zonal head of the Port Harcourt office.

Later, Abdulrasheed Bawa was arrested and detained by the then Acting Chairman of the Criminal Agency named Ibrahim Magu. Because of his fraudulent activities, he was subsequently relieved of his position in Port Harcourt and transferred to the agency’s training school in Abuja.

Career

Abdulrasheed Bawa reportedly joined the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in the year 2004 as an Assistant Detective Superintendent (ADS).

Eleven years after joining the agency (October 2015), he was appointed to head the investigations of Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, and her associates.

To date, Abdulrasheed Bawa remains the youngest chairman of EFCC. He was reportedly trained in the United States under the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

During his services as the EFCC zonal head of Port Harcourt Zonal Office and Lagos Zonal Office, Abdulrasheed Bawa investigated and forfeited several assets that were bought illegally.

He also led the investigations of Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke between 2015 to 2019, which led to the recovery of millions of dollars and properties.
