Early Life

The 15th of June 1992 witnessed the birth of a superstar named Mohamed Salah.

He was born in the native city of Nagrig, Gharbia in Egypt, North Africa, to an average family who loved and cared for him. He is a devoted Muslim.

Mohamed Salah grew up with the love of the round leather game. He would skip classes, miss homework, and sometimes have dinner to play or watch football.

Unfortunately, his passion for football was also responsible for his failure in his academics to some extent.

His mother never supported his decision to be a football as she had always wanted him to become a mechanical engineer.

However, it was not meant to be as the young lad was already engrossed in football.

His father, Salah Ghaly on the other, supported his development as a footballer and always taught him about the importance of four hours of training daily.

Mo Salah has a brother whose name is Nasr Salah.

Education

Research on Mohamed Salah shows he was a dullard in school.

The football-lover could not strike a balance between his love for football and his education, thus the continued decline in his academic results.

However, despite his poor performance, his parent still had faith in his education, ensuring he studied hard until graduation.

Unfortunately, details on the name of the school he attended are not accessible at the moment, but it remains the fact that the Egyptian is a graduate.

Career

Growing up, Mohamed Salah had a soft spot for football and played with his friends and neighbours. At first, he played just for fun until he was approached by a local club called El Mokawloon, situated in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

The club was far from his home, but Salah was always determined to attend training sessions when called upon, coupled with the fact that he had to board five busses to reach the academy.

His determination and focus on football were rewarded with a maiden invitation to the Egyptian National team in May 2010. At that time, he was just 18 years old.

Mohamed Salah wasn’t a regular at the national team level for the first few years until his game improved.

His career suffered a setback when shortcomings shut down the Egyptian premier league for a while after the Port Stadium disaster threatened the continuation. Then, however, fortune shined on him when FC Basel, a Swiss-based club, offered an escape route to a better league.

Mohamed Salah pledges his future to Basel by signing a four-year contract in 2012, making a UEFA Champions League debut appearance, and guiding his new team to the Semi-final of that year’s competition. He also played an essential role in the team’s impressive performance at the Swiss Cup, where they played in the final and eventually lost.

However, Mohamed Salah went on to win a domestic cup, “Uhran Cup”, in the subsequent season.

He caught the eye and attention of London club, Chelsea FC after an outstanding performance against them in a two-legged champions league fixture. Chelsea immediately signed the Egyptian in 2014.

He debuted for the west-London club in a premier league fixture against Newcastle United before scoring his first league goal against Arsenal in March that same season. However, the threat to continuing his blistering career came when the Egyptian was asked to return to Egypt to complete mandatory military service.

Fortunately, Mohamed Salah overcame the fear, and after a fruitful meeting with the Egyptian prime minister, the footballer was exempted from the training.

In 2015, he was loaned out to Italian club Fiorentina before moving to Serie A rivals A.S Roma in a permanent deal in 2016.

After playing two seasons at the Italian club, Mohamed Salah emerged as a top player in Europe and around the globe, thus his successful move to giant European Liverpool in 2017 for a record fee of 50 million pounds.

Mohamed Salah‘s achieved significant success at Liverpool, scoring his first-ever hattrick against lowly Watford in a 5-0 thrashing. He scored four beautiful goals on that faithful day. At the end of the season, he emerged the highest goal scorer, scoring a record number of 36 goals across all competitions for Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah‘s career has seen him represented his country of birth at the U-20 and U-23 teams with 11 appearances. He then represented Egypt at the senior level at Russia’s 2014 FIFA World Cup, propelling his team to the final group stages.

In 2017, he single-handedly pushed Egypt to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, finishing as highest goal-scoring and consequently making the CAF eleven of the tournament.

Mohamed Salah won the prestigious UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2019 and, at the same time, was awarded the African Footballer Of The Year.
