Senator Oborevwori, the favored candidate of Ifeanyi Okowa, defeated Olorogun David Edevbie, the choice of former governor Chief James Ibori, who received 113 votes and came in third.

The sheriff received 625 votes, making him the party’s legitimate candidate, according to Mr Ndibusi Nwobu, chairman of the electoral panel.

However, because former governors Ibori and Uduaghan did not participate in the primary elections, it is clear that Okowa is in charge of the party.

While Edevbie, dissatisfied with the voting results, fled before the polls closed, Oborevwori was filled with happiness as he embraced the other candidates and delegates. Everyone applauded as he was announced the winner.

Oborevwori received 597 votes, compared to Edevbie’s 113, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi’s 0 votes, Chief Fred Majemite’s 6, Senator James Manager’s 83, Barr Peter Mrakpor’s 9, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro’s 9, and Chief Ejaife Odebala’s 2 votes, according to Mr Ndubusi Nwobu, chairman of the panel.

The 824 delegates who arrived at the Dome Centre in Asaba for the accreditation process at around 11 am were happy and upbeat.

Thirteen of the fourteen candidates who had been cleared were present. Chief Kenneth Gbagi, the former minister of state for education, withdrew from the contest earlier this week and did not appear at the venue on Tuesday.

At 3:24 pm, Aniocha North delegates cast their votes alphabetically. The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel were present to monitor the election.
