After attending Michigan State, Johnson joined LA Lakers in 1979, the first player picked in that year’s draft. In his very first season, he was already achieving great things. Averaging 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game as the point guard, he was selected for the NBA All-Rookie team and a starter in the season’s NBA All-Star Game.

His presence in the team also helped the Lakers to be well placed in the NBA Championship odds for the season, as they are again during this season’s playoffs.

Johnson went on to play for 13 more seasons with the Lakers, during which time he picked up multiple awards and achievements.
