Zacchaeus Adelabu Adedeji was born on January 8, 1978, in the village of Iwo-Ate, near Ogbomoso in Oyo State, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Adedeji. His father, now deceased, was a cocoa farmer, and his mother is a trader-cum-farmer.

Zacchaeus Adelabu Adedeji began his professional career at Procter & Gamble, an American multinational consumer goods company, where he distinguished himself by topping the company’s aptitude test while still a university student.

He rose to become a senior member of the management team and Corporate Finance Manager for West Africa.

After over a decade in the private sector, he took a leave of absence in 2011 to join public service as the pioneer Commissioner of Finance in Oyo State under Governor Abiola Ajimobi, serving until May 2015.
